Tag your blocks, applications and chemicals

Give your blocks, applications and chemicals your own labels, such as Use: Raisins, so you can say which ones a report is for.

A tag is a label in your own words. It has two parts, a key and a value: Use: Raisins, Buyer: Woolworths, Programme: Foliar feed. The key says what you are describing and the value says which one.

There are tags for three things:

  • Blocks, for example Use: Raisins or Use: Table grapes.
  • Applications, for example Buyer: Woolworths.
  • Chemicals, for example Programme: Foliar feed. A chemical's tags are the same in all your stores.

Each block, application or chemical can have only one value for a key. A block is Use: Raisins or Use: Table grapes, never both. Giving it a new value for a key it already has replaces the old one.

For now you set up your tags on the Tags page. Putting them on your blocks, applications and chemicals is coming soon, on their own screens.

Why tag

Buyers and exporters often want only part of your records: the blocks for one market, the applications for one buyer, or your crop protection without the foliar feeds. Tags are how you tell Intecrop which part. When you download a report, you will be able to include or leave out what carries a tag, and the screen tells you what was included and left out. The tags themselves never print on the report.

See your tags

Choose Tags in the menu on the left. Your tags are listed in three parts, Blocks, Applications and Chemicals. Next to each tag is how many blocks, applications or chemicals carry it.

A tag that nothing carries stays on the list until you delete it, so you can use it again later.

Add a tag

Press New. Choose what the tag is for, type the key and the value, and press Save.

Capitals do not make a different tag: Use: Raisins and use: raisins are the same tag, so adding the second tells you it is already there. A new value under a key you already have takes that key's spelling, so you do not end up with Use and USE side by side. Extra spaces are taken out, and a key may not contain a colon (:).

Rename a value

Press the pencil next to the tag, type the new value, and press Save. Everything carrying the tag shows the new value.

If the key already has the value you typed, for example you rename Use: raisin to Use: Raisins and Use: Raisins is already there, Intecrop offers to merge the two. It tells you how many blocks, applications or chemicals will carry the tag after the merge. Press Merge to put them all on one tag.

Rename a key

Press the key icon next to any of its tags, type the new key, and press Save. Every value under the key is renamed.

If you rename a key to one you already have, the two keys become one. That is refused when some blocks, applications or chemicals have a value under both keys, because each can have only one value for a key. Intecrop tells you how many; take one of the two off those first.

Delete a tag

Press the bin next to the tag. Intecrop asks you to confirm, and says how many blocks, applications or chemicals carry it. Deleting a tag takes it off all of them.

Only a farm admin or a manager can add, rename, merge or delete tags. Everyone else on the farm can see them.

Try it on your own farm

Record your applications, track what they cost, and print the reports you need at audit time.
